Jaeger-LeCoultre Geophysic Universal Time
A modern reinvention of the scientifically inspired watches produced in the late 1950's, the new Geophysic collection from Jaeger-LeCoultre is a tasteful homage to the brand's past, while pushing the limits of modern mechanical watchmaking. A standout amongst this line is the Geophysic Universal Time. Its blue lacquered world map dial, with an adjustable world disk to show all 24 time zones at once, gives the watch a unique and commanding presence when compared to Jaeger-LeCoultre's normally understated aesthetics. The real excitement of this watch, however, lies under the hood. Powering this beautiful piece is the new in-house caliber 772 automatic movement, which uses the Gyrolab balance wheel originally designed for the brand's Extreme LAB concept watches. The impressive 'True-second' complication is designed to be a more accurate way to read seconds, by having the second hand jump between positions, unlike the smooth movement seen on mechanical watches. This timepiece is the perfect gift for the world traveler on your list.
Panerai PAM00001 (Estate)
Is there someone on your list who is all about the vintage and unique? A current standout in our estate case is the Panerai PAM0001 Firenze 1860, which is also available on our eBay store. A great gift for the Panerai enthusiast, the PAM00001 is the first model produced by Panerai as a modern luxury watch brand, the misleadingly numbered Pam0 was actually a later edition to the line. This particular watch is from the B series, which places this watch's birthday in 1999, only the second production year for the company. Since their reinvention as a modern watch company, Panerai has gained an amazing following, and early pieces such as this are highly collectible. With Oliver's one-year warranty on estate pieces, expert refinishing by Michael in our shop, and masterful repairs and inspection by our watchmaker, Ben, estate pieces like this one are a great opportunity to pick up an exceptional piece without the exceptional price tag!
The partnership between Hublot and Ferrari has produced many amazing and unique watches, and this newest member of the collection looks to continue that tradition. The Big Bang Ferrari Titanium Carbon is an exciting variation on the Ferrari theme, with a predominantly grey color scheme that allows the details, rendered in the iconic rosso corsa red, to stand out. In keeping with Hublot’s commitment to new and innovative materials, the bezel is rendered in carbon fiber with titanium occlusions, which has a texture akin to wood grain, contrasting beautifully with its titanium case. But you won’t find the Ferrari name emblazoned across the dial on this watch; Hublot looks more to the details of the Ferrari brand for inspiration, from the ‘quick change’ interchangeable straps inspired by seatbelts, to the rotor on the automatic UNICO movement reminiscent of the star shaped hubcaps of many Ferrari models. This limited edition Big Bang Ferrari Titanium Carbon watch will be the star of our upcoming Cars & Cigars event, sponsored by Hublot.
